The Quinn Evans Architects Story

A Tale of Sustainable Growth

Founders Michael Quinn, FAIA and David Evans, FAIA met as young architects at Preservation Urban Design, Inc.. After ten years, they left to form their own firm in 1984.

Since then, Quinn Evans Architects has grown from a two-man studio to a thriving firm of more than 60 professionals divided between two full-service offices in Ann Arbor, MI and Washington, DC, with studios in Detroit, MI and Madison, WI. With its roots in historic preservation, the organization continues to provide award-winning architecture, preservation, sustainable design and planning services. Sadly, David passed away in 1998, but his vision and passion for the work live on in the firm’s people, and in hundreds of projects across the country.

Today, the principals of QEA are seen as thought leaders in the field of preservation architecture and planning. The firm has become a prominent authority in sustainable preservation and stewardship, and plays an increasingly influential role in defining the future of the field.

Their ideas are compelling, they deliver their work on time, they’re wonderful to work with, their results make their clients happy, and they win major awards for their projects. This is the Quinn Evans I know.
