Ilene Tyler, FAIA, FAPT, LEED AP

As Principal and Director of Preservation, Ilene Tyler provides nationally-recognized technical expertise, based on over 30 years’ experience on a wide range of preservation projects. With comprehensive knowledge of construction systems and building components, she is passionate about working with (rather than tearing down) existing buildings, and respecting neighborhood character.

Ilene regards the firm’s work on the Parthenon in Nashville as one of her favorite projects. “Clearly, it has stylistic references to ancient Greece,” she observes, “but it also resonates personally because of the temple-front, Greek Revival house I live in. As a wonderful art museum, the Parthenon is a great example of adaptive use, and is full of majestic details, like its huge bronze doors, the 40-foot statue of Athena, and the larger-than-life pediment sculptures.”
