James Thompson’s background includes work with a variety of public agencies, as both a government representative and a private-sector architect. At QEA, James has been highly active in the firm’s sustainable practices, including state-of-the-art “green” construction practices and systems, energy efficiency, healthy building and ergonomic design. Among his personal interests, James helps maintain a local hiking trail, and also has a passion for making beer.
“Naturally, I like most of my projects,” he notes. “But one I find myself talking about most often is our reconstruction of George Washington’s Distillery at Mount Vernon — a remarkable mix of architectural history, technology, and well, whisky. Another is the School of International Service at American University, a new building with some very innovative design features.”
