Built on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River, this two-story limestone structure was modeled on the Parisian Hôtel de Rothelin-Charolais to serve as both a diplomatic home and host to distinguished visitors. The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs engaged QEA to advance the stewardship of this historic residence through a comprehensive modernization — the first since its 1932 construction. To improve the residence’s safety, efficiency, comfort and aesthetics, we restored ornate Beaux-Arts details, finishes and fixtures. At the same time, we integrated comprehensive new engineering systems within its historic fabric.
