QEA was commissioned by the District of Columbia Government to design a new recreation center on the site of an existing park, resulting in the City’s first completed LEED-Silver certified building. After collaborating with and listening to the community, we created a contemporary architectural expression within the neighborhood context. Features include a gymnasium, fitness center, classrooms, pantry/kitchen, as well as a baseball field, volleyball court, tot lot and on-site parking. Besides serving as a state-of-the-art recreation center, the facility also demonstrates DC’s commitment to green design.
