QEA has built a reputation helping revitalize buildings through thoughtful and sustainable renovations, but our commitment to sustainability does not end there. At Quinn Evans Architects, we challenge ourselves to make environmentally sound decisions here in the office as well. This year as part of that effort, our firm is taking the Smarter DC Challenge.

The Smarter DC Challenge is a game that encourages businesses to start or strengthen their sustainability initiatives. Businesses earn points for completing tasks in a variety of categories including energy, water, waste, transportation, purchasing and healthy habits. If you’re looking for resources to conduct a recycling assessment or promote alternative transportation, the Challenge is a great place to start. Supported by the District Department of the Environment and developed by sustainability leaders across the city, the Challenge helps connect businesses to useful resources and gain tips and tricks from others who are finding success.

Carl Elefante and Marisa Allen are also participating in the Challenge Advisory Committee and the Sustainable Leadership program to help shape the goals and resources of the challenge and gain leadership skills to take back to their Challenge teams. The latest Sustainable Leadership meeting took place this past Wednesday at the beautiful and historic German Marshall Fund building near Dupont Circle. Leaders discussed ways to encourage participants to complete activities for this quarters Challenge theme of Health and Pollution Prevention.

Quinn Evans Architects is currently ranked third for businesses in the Smarter DC Challenge. Think you can beat our score? Check out the Smarter DC Challenge at www.smarterdcchallenge.com
