A new student center planned for Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland broke ground on June 29th, 2017.

“Dozens of Montgomery County leaders, students and staff, gathered at” the site of the groundbreaking to celebrate this project milestone, reports mymcmedia.  

“We want students to get good guidance quickly, access financial aid, and register for classes that match their academic and professional goals. This building is designed with precisely this process in mind”

The new student center, designed by Cho Benn Holback, A Quinn Evans Company, will serve a landmark role, both programmatically and aesthetically for Montgomery College, Rockville campus. This 125,000 sf structure will anchor the developing pedestrian mall and provide a dynamic mix of retail, food service, student services, administrative offices, academic classrooms, and related outdoor space. Building character, scale, and materials will reinforce the existing campus while developing from the recent building and master plan. The goal is to juxtapose the mix of student activities, bookstores and cafes, and academic and administrative services in a way that creates positive interaction and a vibrant place while also meeting back-of-house needs.
