QEA Principal Tom Jester, AIA, FAPT, LEED AP will participate in Create + Construct 2016 as part of a slate of industry experts in this one-day symposium focused on cultural and religious structures. The symposium will be held at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City on September 20, 2016.
The New York Building Congress forecasts that non-residential spending will take a substantial leap forward to $15 billion in 2016, including religious and cultural construction. Considering this projected growth, Create + Construct 2016 will bring industry leaders together to discuss challenges and trends of this sector in maintaining New York City's status as a cultural hub. Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) has organized this program to explore current trends in new design and construction of museums and religious structures, as well as opportunities for investigation and rehabilitation of existing buildings.
In a session entitled Museum Challenges – Investigation and Rehabilitation, Tom will co-present with Nik Vigener of SGH. Their discussion will reference recent collaborative work together on the National Air & Space Museum on the National Mall and focus on existing museum facilities and their inherent challenges, opportunities and lessons learned.
