The brand new Cole Field House at the University of Maryland, College Park was unveiled today by university president Wallace Loh, football coach DJ Durkin, and Maryland Senate President Mike Miller, according to an article by the Washington Business Journal.

“A new indoor football field has replaced the basketball court, which hosted two Final Fours in its day, including the famous 1966 edition which saw an integrated Texas Western team upset heavily favored Kentucky.”

The renovation of Cole Field House into an indoor practice football field completes phase 1 of a larger project which aims to provide new facilities for the University of Maryland football program, as well as research facilities for neuroscience doctors, medical students and researchers. Phase 2 will add new facilities for the football program which include a new locker room, strength training facilities, position meeting rooms and a 230 seat dining hall. Award-winning firm Cho Benn Holback, A Quinn Evans Company is a critical part of the design team.
