Jim is an expert in the technique of Library Planning, a process that is very public, requires the stakeholders to anticipate the community’s future needs, and requires a high level of collaboration. Working on the University of Michigan Mardigian Library has been an invigorating partnership that is reinventing the library as it moves forward; the resulting conceptual synergy has provided a real laboratory in which to test concepts and philosophies. Jim notes that all of QEA’s areas of expertise and projects impact peoples’ lives and provide opportunities for communities to come together, which infuses the firm with a deep sense of integrity.
