A $155-million project will revitalize and expand Cole Field House to showcase the University of Maryland’s national leadership in advancing the science of sports.

The project builds off of the 62-year history and context of the existing field house to support an extensive new program that celebrates the University’s sporting heritage without impacting the character of the existing campus. The innovative facility, designed in association with Cannon Design, will be the new home for the University’s football program as well as a multidisciplinary hub of sports, health and science with clinical and medical research and a center for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The multi-phased project will reconfigure the existing building to accommodate a full-size indoor practice field and expand to the north with new facilities for strength training, conditioning and therapies, locker room and players’ lounge, recruiting lounge, position meeting rooms, including a 180-seat auditorium, and a 200 seat dining hall for all athletes.
