Enoch Pratt Orleans Branch Library
Baltimore, Maryland

This modern library enhances the neighborhood and serves as a beacon of hope for the community. Recognizing an opportunity to serve the needs of the community, our team used new storefront windows to draw in patrons with a sneak peek of the reference materials and the latest technology tht reside in a large, two-story reading room. The library features an extreme mix of scales, uses and materials surrounding the site, yet holds its own with a powerful visual presence on the street. Library book spines on shelves inspired the design of the building envelope resulting in the colorful exterior skin of the reading room. We introduced colorful phenolic panels in a rhythmic pattern to produce a reading billboard effect on the façade, creating an urban gem for the community to enjoy for years to come.
