The Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects honored Quinn Evans Architects' renovation of the National Academy of Sciences with an Award of Excellence in Historic Architecture. The Chapter held its 2013 Design Awards Celebration on June 6, 2013 at the Old Town Theater in Alexandria, Virginia.

The ambitious restoration of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) headquarters in Washington, D.C. received the State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award at the 2013 District of Columbia Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation. The award was presented by Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the D.C. Office of Planning’s Historic Preservation Office at a celebration held at the NAS headquarters building at 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, on May 6.
