Dan Carter believes that the built environment mirrors our culture and beliefs, and that the creation of a well-crafted building or site can make a lasting impact on communities and individual wellbeing. He is a diligent and patient problem-solver who especially enjoys bringing neglected spaces and structures back to life.

Dan has served as project manager and architect for many transformative renovation and adaptive use projects, including historic properties. His portfolio includes museums, libraries, and other cultural projects; higher education facilities; and hotels and residences.

Dan is skilled in the application of digital design tools and technologies, yet he values a hands-on, patient approach to each project that emphasizes the role of traditional craftsmanship, resourceful strategies, team collaboration, and long-term stewardship. He enjoys solving the aspirational parameters of a project to create a beautiful structure and sense of place.
