The Art of Diplomacy

Embassy of Japan Chancery Annex B

Embassy of Japan Chancery Annex B

Washington, DC

The renewal of this stately historic building enables it to support the complex functions of a modern diplomatic mission.

From lectures to seated dinners, the 1931 building—formerly the Japanese ambassador’s residence—hosts a variety of events for distinguished visitors. We restored the building as closely as possible to its original appearance while enhancing and reconfiguring its Neo-Georgian interiors to accommodate myriad occasions.

Flexible event spaces are supported by a full-service commercial kitchen. We seamlessly integrated new infrastructure and engineering systems within the historic fabric. The restored interiors are punctuated by a rich paint scheme, custom carpets, and elegant furnishings, providing a perfect backdrop for the embassy’s art collection.
