A Campus Beacon
Forrer Learning Commons
Forrer Learning Commons
Our renovation and expansion transformed Bridgewater College’s library for collaborative learning.
With only minor changes since its original 1964 construction, the building had not kept pace with the evolving needs of academic libraries. The College desired to reimagine the library as a beacon on campus and a place where students could gather to research, study, and create.
We first embarked on programming and data-gathering, working closely with library staff and administration to establish programmatic requirements and design goals. The design solution was informed by feedback from Bridgewater students via surveys and focus groups.
The renovated and expanded Forrer Learning Commons now serves a wider range of students and provides resources for student success including a writing center, tutoring, and career services.
It's been an amazing process that allows us to come together as a community, do a thorough review of what our students needed, and create a vision that was lighting the way for the next generation.
