 Project

Facing declining attendance, Center Stage’s leadership recognized that the theater’s facilities were hampering its ability to serve its community. By reimagining the building’s spaces, functionality, and (most importantly) its sense of place, our team created a space where patrons engage with the arts from the moment they set foot in the building. Our design balances old and new to enhance the experience of both performers and patrons. We collaborated with stakeholders and the Mount Vernon community to deliver state-of-the-art theater that features a blend of historic architecture and 21st-century technologies. Audience engagement begins before patrons even enter the building, with dramatic new façade lighting and a welcoming lobby that beckon to the community. The renewed facility allows Center Stage to expand its educational programs and allows for a greater variety of productions.
