 Project

Built in 1976, the National Air and Space Museum is one of the world’s most celebrated and visited museums, inspiring generations of families and aviation fans exploring the Smithsonian’s numerous treasures. Led by our team, the on-going, multi-phased revitalization and modernization of the museum will embrace innovative technologies and improve the overall visitor experience for years to come. To create synergies resulting in significant energy savings, we seamlessly integrated a new infrastructure into the building’s fabric, replacing the iconic building’s exterior stone cladding and expansive glazing with future-focused sustainable methods. The museum’s National Mall entrance will feature a new, bold and climatized vestibule, providing a comfortable queuing area for visitors during the security screening process.

The Solution

“The icons people associate with the National Air and Space Museum are as inspiring today as they were when they made history. But through stimulating new exhibition techniques and innovative digital engagement, we will tell exciting and relevant stories in ways that resonate with our modern communication-savvy world that can be readily shared with broad audiences.”
