Principal Katie Irwin, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP BD+C, explains how preservation has been at the core of Quinn Evans since our founding and continues to be a fundamental part of our firm.

While May marks National Preservation Month, we celebrate preservation every day. Principal Katie Irwin, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP BD+C, explains how preservation has been at the core of Quinn Evans since our founding and continues to be a fundamental part of who we are. When Mike Quinn and principal emeritus Carl Elefante combined forces, they strengthened our approach by merging preservation and sustainability.

I think Quinn Evans is special because from its very get-go, it has been rooted in historic preservation. And then in the late 90s, it was the realization between Mike Quinn in conversation with Carl Elefante, having the understanding that preservation is sustainability. It is the reuse of existing buildings. And I think that, as a foundational piece of our history and our work and our portfolio, has made our work that much stronger.

Good stewardship is setting the path forward, into the future, by pulling in and balancing the past, the current stakeholders’ needs, and looking towards the future and how a place should be transformed.
