A Mixed-Use Model
Johnston Square Branch Library
Johnston Square Branch Library
The Johnston Square branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library is located within The Hammond at Greenmount Park, a transit-oriented workforce housing development. The building is an implementation of the community-guided Johnston Square Vision Plan, a long-term effort to restore opportunity, stability, and investment to the neighborhood without displacing current residents.
The 9,000-sf library was designed for flexibility, with moveable shelving and a variety of furniture that supports both day-to-day library operations and special events. Opening onto a future park and playground, the library creates a welcoming destination where community members can gather, study, and access resources—filling a need in a section of East Baltimore that has historically lacked a library.
This development will be one for everyone: beautiful buildings, world-class park space, and a state-of-the-art library. This community deserves it, just like every other neighborhood across Baltimore.
