Architects in Action: Reviving Buildings

Transcript:

I love climbing around old buildings. I have been on scaffolds and cranes and lifts. I've been 150ft up in the air, hanging from the basket of a crane to inspect the gold dome on top of a bell tower.

I've gone into a lot of damp and dark and deteriorating buildings. Been in a building where there was a tree growing through the wall—the tree had spread its roots on the concrete slab inside and was getting water from the leaks through the roof.

Yeah, it's just really cool to go into these places when they are in disrepair and then see them transformed and to see them get new life, or to see them be restored for the next 60, 80 years. It's really magical.
