In an article titled “An Abandoned Art-Deco Landmark in Buffalo Awaits Revival,” author Leigh Giangreco explores the past, present, and future of Buffalo Central Terminal.

Quinn Evans is part of the team led by the nonprofit Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) that is converting the massive train station to a mixed-use destination. The second phase of construction, focused on stabilizing the main terminal building and expanding usable outdoor areas, is currently underway. The completed campus will encompass 33 acres of residential, commercial, and public spaces.

The article draws parallels between the Buffalo Central Terminal project and the revitalization of Detroit's Michigan Central Station, which was designed by Quinn Evans. Both are historic train stations topped by office towers; both are also located in former manufacturing powerhouses that have experienced industrial decline. The executive director of CTRC points to Michigan Central Station as proof that an ambitious, community-focused renewal can be achieved.

We like to compare ourselves to [Michigan Central Station] because people long thought that that was hopeless and it happened.
MONICA PELLEGRINO FAIX—CTRC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
