Libraries are one of the few institutions in public life whose mission is to serve and support any and everyone in a given community, so they tend to be a true cross-section in a way that’s really unique.

One of the exciting things about working here at Quinn Evans is we do get to work in the public realm, almost all of our projects are community-focused, public-based projects. And, of course, libraries are all about connecting people to services. And so we see that as an opportunity to work with our clients, where there are opportunities for cross-collaboration to help them deliver that.

So that may mean having a library connected to an affordable housing development, like one of the Enoch Pratt libraries that we’ve done here recently in Baltimore, or incorporating really thoughtful, intentional learning environments in all of our libraries that comes from our experience in working in public schools.

We try to design for flexibility and adaptability so that these spaces can grow and change to suit various generational needs over time.
