The West Virginia Department of Tourism has selected the team led by Quinn Evans and Silling to renew the West Virginia Culture Center, a modern-era gem dating to 1976.
Silling is a long-standing West Virginia practice established in Charleston in 1902, and the original Architect of Record for the “West Virginia Science and Cultural Center.” Quinn Evans brings deep experience in the revitalization of mid-century buildings—including the National Air and Space Museum, which was completed in the same year as the Culture Center and faced similar modernization challenges.
Quinn Evans and Silling are firms rooted in collaboration. This unifying ethos, together with our complementary portfolios, creates a team that has the experience to renew the Culture Center for the future while celebrating and elevating its essential character. Our first task is to complete a comprehensive assessment of the building and provide a roadmap for phased improvements to its envelope, systems, accessibility, and public spaces.
Along with our multidisciplinary partners Axias, M2H Protection, Mueller Associates, Schuler Shook, Threshold, VDA, and WDP & Associates, we look forward to exploring opportunities to enhance the Culture Center for a new generation of West Virginians.
