
Richmond, Virginia’s Fox Elementary School is the subject of an article in the latest edition of Nineteenth Century, the magazine of the Victorian Society in America. In the piece, writer and Victorian Society director Dennis Andersen details the school’s history, from its construction in the newly developed Fan District to the fire that devastated the building in 2022 and its reopening last year.
Anderson praises Quinn Evans’ “sensitive and genial” restoration, and particularly our integration of new systems and accessibility measures while maintaining the building’s historic character.
The result: the resurrection of a nearly fatally damaged school and the affirmation of its essential part in the revitalization of the neighborhood.
