Michigan Central Station was honored with the 2025 Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation. Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer presented the award with preservation leaders during a ceremony organized by the State Historic Preservation Office.

The Governor’s Awards for Historic Preservation, held during National Historic Preservation Month, recognizes outstanding projects that protect and celebrate Michigan’s rich history. Principal Richard Hess, AIA, accepted the award on behalf of Quinn Evans during the celebration held in Heritage Hall, which was also designed by Quinn Evans. During the event, the Governor congratulated this year’s recipients for their contributions to preserving and enhancing Michigan’s communities.

These awardees are helping us build a stronger Michigan by preserving the places and stories that define who we are. Their work honors our shared past while creating vibrant spaces where people want to live, work, and invest.
GRETCHEN WHITMER, GOVERNOR OF MICHIGAN

This adds to the growing list of accolades for the rehabilitation of Michigan Central Station, including the 2025 Palladio Award from Traditional Building and the 2024 CAM Magazine Project of the Year.
