In a piece titled “Abandoned Homes in Baltimore Are Now Being Fought Over in Bidding Wars,” Wall Street Journal reporter Nicholas G. Miller explores why Baltimore’s housing vacancy rate has fallen by nearly a third over the past 10 years. He cites the Johnston Square neighborhood, where nonprofit developer ReBUILD Metro has rehabilitated more than 50 vacant homes, as a successful example of the “whole-blocks” approach to redevelopment.
We’re proud to have worked with ReBUILD Metro on The Hammond at Greenmount Park, a mixed-use building that provides 109 units of workforce housing colocated with the Johnston Square Branch Library. This new community anchor builds on the work ReBUILD Metro has been doing in Johnston Square since 2015.
