With decades of experience working on libraries, we know that librarians and our team at Quinn Evans aren’t so different.

With decades of experience working on libraries, we know that librarians and our team at Quinn Evans aren’t so different. We’re both focused on listening to the goals of various stakeholders and turning that feedback into action, while balancing so much more. We care about creating special places, and we’re always excited to get to know the character and aspirations of each library. In this video, principal Ann Dilcher, AIA, LEED AP, APT RP, and senior architect Anthony Harris, AIA, LEED AP, NOMA, explore how we find ourselves on the same page as librarians.

Check out this video to learn more about how we create thriving libraries.

Speaking the Language of Libraries

ANN DILCHER

To me, working on a library is the best kind of project because I get to create spaces where people get to learn and create new things themselves.

ANTHONY HARRIS

I feel like our team at Quinn Evans and librarians in general, we speak the same language. Librarians often talk about connecting patrons to services and I think as architects, we’re accustomed to hearing community needs and end-user needs and working to serve those needs.

ANN DILCHER

I feel deeply committed to the mission of how libraries work to improve everyone within the community.

ANTHONY HARRIS

Our approach is one of listening to patrons and listening to community members, and not having a preordained path or a formal design in mind and where things will lead, but allowing the community engagement process to take us where the community takes us.

ANN DILCHER

I love working with librarians and library boards because they are so focused on how to better support their own communities.

ANTHONY HARRIS

Each community that a library serves is unique. And so we try to get feedback and understand what each of those communities are saying and what they want and expect and need from a library.

ANN DILCHER

The librarians are really on the forefront of looking forward and understand that what they're offering is free to the public and can really help someone learn a new skill that's valuable to them or their family or the community overall.
