The Hammond at Greenmount Park in Baltimore, Maryland, has been named a mixed-use category finalist in Affordable Housing Finance’s 22nd annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
In a profile of the project, the publication notes that The Hammond contributes to the revitalization of the Johnston Square neighborhood without displacing current residents. With 109 units of affordable housing and a new branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, the building replaces vacant lots with a community hub.
The development has improved the urban fabric of Johnston Square and provided a new 9,400-square-foot public library for its residents. In addition, Johnston Square’s neighborhood organization, the Rebuild Johnston Square Neighborhood Organization, is able to host its meetings in the project’s community space.
Affordable Housing Finance subscribers can vote for category winners and one overall winner through August 17.
