In honor of our nation’s 250th birthday, we’re sharing stories of places that showcase the rich tapestry of American history. Guided by our stewardship ethos, our work connects people to place and drives positive change for generations to come—respecting the past while creating a legacy for the future.
America’s presidential memorials and historic sites honor the leaders who have shaped our nation; they preserve legacies and highlight milestones in American history. We’ve had the privilege of working at several presidential sites, from historic homes to National Mall memorials. Here are just a few.

Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON, VIRGINIA
George Washington’s Mount Vernon is one of our nation’s oldest and most significant historic house museums, having been opened to the public in 1860. Today, the National Historic Landmark site welcomes over a million visitors a year. We have worked with the museum for over two decades on projects large and small; the latest one is a comprehensive digital model of the Mansion and grounds that guides the preservation of our first president’s home.

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
The Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site occupies part of the former White Haven estate, where Grant’s young family lived from 1854 to 1859—shortly before he embarked on the military career that would lead him to become our nation’s 18th president. We relocated and adapted a historic stable on the property to serve as the park’s museum and designed an adjacent visitor center.

The Lincoln Memorial
WASHINGTON, DC
Since its completion in 1922, the memorial to Abraham Lincoln has been an anchor of the National Mall and an important site of public assembly. Quinn Evans is working with the National Park Service to create an immersive museum beneath the Memorial. The museum and associated amenities will improve the visitor experience and understanding of this national memorial. It’s scheduled to open in July, in time for the America250 celebrations in our nation’s capital.
